Graduate Requirements

Master’s Program

  • Number of Semesters: 4 – 8
  • Required Credits: Minimum of 24 credits Note: Students admitted before Spring 2023 are required to complete at least 30 credits.
  • Grades: Overall GPA of 3.0 and above
  • Graduation Requirement: Completion of coursework and successful thesis evaluation

Doctoral Program

  • Number of Semesters: 4 – 12
  • Required Credits: Minimum of 36 credits Note: Students admitted before Spring 2023 are required to complete at least 42 credits.
  • Grades: Overall GPA of 3.0 and above
  • Graduation Requirement: Completion of coursework and successful thesis evaluation

Combined Master’s and Doctoral Program

  • Number of Semesters: 6 – 16
  • Required Credits: Minimum of 60 credits
  • Grades: Overall GPA of 3.0 and above
  • Graduation Requirement: Completion of coursework and successful thesis evaluation

Additional Requirements (Applicable to All Programs)

  1. Completion of Department-Specific Required Courses
    Students must complete all major-required courses designated by the department.
  2. Verification of Duplicate Coursework
    If a course completed during the Master’s program is repeated in the Doctoral program, the credits earned from that course will not be counted toward the Doctoral degree requirements.
