Center for Child Educare Service and Research
The Center for Child Educare Service and Research serves as the official on-campus childcare facility at Seoul National University.
The Department of Child Development and Family Studies plays a leading role in the overall operation of the center, which also functions as a key site for practicum and internship training in early childhood care and education. Established to support graduate students’ academic and research activities and to contribute to faculty and staff welfare, the center provides high-quality childcare for the children of graduate students and university employees. Through hands-on childcare practices, the center also contributes to academic research in child development, education, and welfare.

Originally opened in 1998, SNU’s childcare system now includes two specialized facilities: Baekhak Daycare Center (for infants) and Neutinamu Daycare Center (for toddlers and preschoolers). Both are operated under the integrated management of the Center for Child Educare Service and Research with support from Seoul National University. The center’s signature program, Thematic Exploration and Expressive Activities, is a practical implementation of the goals and content outlined in Korea’s National Standard Childcare Curriculum, including the Nuri Curriculum. Following the 2019 curriculum reform, which emphasized a child-centered and play-based approach, the Center for Child Educare Service and Research continues to demonstrate the effectiveness of its educational model, which has been in place since the center’s founding.

Guided by a philosophy that respects children as autonomous individuals, the center provides integrated care that reflects children’s developmental characteristics as well as Korea’s cultural and emotional context. Through this approach, the Center for Child Educare Service and Research has established itself as a reliable and trusted welfare institution, supporting the well-being of the broader university community.
