Undergraduate Symposium

Each year, a team of primarily second- and third-year undergraduate students is assembled to conduct in-depth research on topics related to child development and family studies. The team presents its findings at the Undergraduate Symposium, a major annual department event held every fall.

The symposium team transforms current social issues into compelling research topics and conducts high-quality studies using surveys and in-depth interviews. The presentations are known not only for their academic rigor, but also for their wit and originality. Many students who have participated in the symposium consider it one of the most meaningful experiences of their undergraduate years.

Below are the themes of past symposiums. Click on each title to view more details.
